Exercised: Why Something We Never Evolved to Do Is Healthy and Rewarding by Daniel E. Lieberman

Absolutely loved this book. The authors writing was really well researched yet SO accessible! It taught me a lot and made sense why we don’t have the natural instinct to exercise, but how beneficial it is for us. On a personal level, it motivated me too and was inspiring to get out and move my body! The final chapter about exercise and disease would probably be scary for any hypochondriacs, so maybe skip that chapter if you spend a lot of time googling symptoms.
Fantastic book! Highly recommend for anyone!

Name an illness. Go ahead. Anything.
Diverticulitis? Sure. Cancer? Yup. Arachnophobia? Probably.
Know what will help with that?
If you guessed exercise, specifically moderate intensity cardio exercise, even most specifically, running, then you know what to expect from this book. Weights help too, but the author obviously does not like lifting weights and he kind of treats them like a nice ex-girlfriend. Sure, you may like her and by all accounts she's a great person, but he doesn't really like discussing her qualities.
And then follow it with a disclaimer that of course exercise is not a panacea and you can still get sick and you should always check with your doctor and follow all medical advice. Also no shame because we've evolved to hate exercise.
But if you don't exercise you will have worse outcomes and probably die earlier than you would otherwise due to all the horror stories that are currently happening in your body while you sit and read this. But no pressure. Oh, also eat healthy.
Now you've read this book.
3 stars because it encouraged me to do HIIT twice a week regardless.

Very interesting, but at times repetative. I did also find it could be a overwhelming at times also.
