This was an easy read that showed that there is far more to Patrick then meets the eye. In speaking frankly, we learn of some the demons that reappear throughout his life as well as his fighting spirit which shines through.

Not exactly literary to say the least, but this memoir is certainly as honest as you would expect. Interesting, not completely forgettable, and kind of depressing knowing that Swayze didn't make it much longer than the day the book hit the stores.

I grew up watching Dirty Dancing but never knew much about Patrick Swayze. Yes, I knew a few films, Point Break, To Wong Foo but never realized the extent of his movies. I also didn't know he excelled at so many things before becoming an actor. Like anyone the man stumbled but he was the first to admit, he wasn't perfect.
Once he was diagnosed with cancer, his strength seemed to be amazing. His struggle will bring tears to your eyes. I also listened to the audiobook. It is read by Patrick and Lisa, his wife. It brings a whole new level of poignant knowing this book came out after his death.
This guy went all in for living life. Definitely worth the read.

I have always loved Patrick Swayze so I just had to read this book. I very much enjoyed reading about his life before he was a star and all of the obstacles he faced. What was amazing is that even through most of his hardships he still kept going and (for the most part) kept his upbeat attitude and his passion for life. I think this book was inspirational. A must-read for any Patrick Swayze fan!

This book was not what I expected it to be. Starting out I thought that Lisa would have written a larger part of the book; however the story from Patrick's point of view makes it a tremendous read! I bought this book recently (almost three years after Patrick's death) and I found myself completely captivated by his ability to rise above whatever lay before him. The story is bitter sweet and there were several points in the book, that I found myself crying due to the content. Patrick was a gifted actor and I have always been a huge Roadhouse fan. This book gives you insight into the life of this one of the greatest actor to ever live. Lisa and Patrick's struggles are enlightened and brought to the attention of those unaware. It's truly amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone who dreams of being an actor or is deeply in love. Words cannot describe how beautiful this book really is.

What I love most about autobiographies is that I almost always grow a HUGE fondness for the person writing about their life -- and it really helps if I love the work they put out. When I think of Patrick Sawyze I immediately remember the first time I watched both Ghost and Dirty Dancing. Those two movies aren't quite easy to forget. I know I was young and didn't understand them at the time, but I clearly remember watching them with my mom and as I've grown up now they hold a dear place in my heart.

This book tells of Patrick's life from high school football, dancing, meeting the love of his life, gymnastics, acting, horse-showing, singing, accidents, depression, drinking, tragedies, and eventually of his experience going through pancreatic cancer. It's a wonderful book/life. I started reading thinking it would be interesting to see how he lived his life and I came out having a huge respect for the man. I gave it five stars like most autobiographies because it's just one of those books you could never forget.

I usually don't care about memoirs, unless they are funny or written by weird people (Steven Tyler), but I truly loved this book. The writing is much better than I ever expected it to be and, in parts, simply beautiful. When my dad let me borrow the book, I had a marginal interest in Patrick Swayze's life. I loved Dirty Dancing and Ghost, (geez, who doesn't!?)and I was saddened when he died, but I'd never really "invested" in Mr. Swayze's life or career. I had no idea of his talents off-screen, or the choices he made in his life - the most notable of which is the admirable and noble choice to just keep fighting, no matter what. I found his wife, Lisa, to be equally admirable, both in her talents and tenacity. I laughed out loud and cried while reading. I only wish I had known what a remarkable person Patrick Swayze was before he passed away. I strongly recommend this book!
